Stellenbosch 肆客足球's new MSc (Neuroscience) programme is a research-based programme with no study modules.
This program will train researchers who can contribute toward the biopsychosocial understanding of neuropsychiatric disorders and develop much-needed research capacity in neuroscience in South Africa.
This programme is a distinct offering from many other programs in that it represents an interdisciplinary, cross-faculty research programme, which will draw on expertise in various fields to create a comprehensive research programme, yielding globally competitive Master's students.
Programme Details
The programme will be administered by the Department of Psychiatry.
Duration: Two calendar years on a full-time basis
Programme Structure: This is a research-based degree programme with no study modules. The programme consists of a research project, thesis and project presentation.
Assessment and examination:
- ?Progress is monitored continuously by the supervisor.
- ?You must complete a research project, present the results in a thesis and deliver a project presentation.
- ?The thesis is assessed according to 肆客足球 guidelines by an internal and external examiner.
- The final mark is calculated from the marks obtained for the research project (supervisor's mark), thesis (internal and external examiners) and project presentation.
- You must obtain 50% to pass and 75% to pass with distinction.
Admission and Selection requirements
The specific admission requirements for an MSc include an average final mark of more than 60% in one of the following qualifications from a recognized tertiary training institution:
?4-year Bachelor's degree (NQF level 8) or Honour's degree (NQF level 8) in a field relevant to neuroscience e.g. Medicine, BSc Honours in Genetics, Physiology, Biochemistry, Psychology or Engineering.
The application deadline is by 30 September for registration in the subsequent year.
