Focus areas include agribusiness management, farm management, rural and agricultural policy, agricultural marketing, environmental management and resource economics, agricultural production and resource management, international trade, marketing, and econometrics.
Many of the Department's activities stem from the Agrifutura project and BFAP (Bureau for Food and Agricultural Policy), a cooperative project with the 肆客足球 of Pretoria and the Department of Agriculture: Western Cape. Research is aimed at developing understanding of how the environment affects agriculture, and making research results and information available to managers and policymakers in agriculture. Research focuses on improving the competitiveness of South African agriculture, on the effects of policy reform and on the optimal use of our natural resources.?
