The Centre for Learning Technologies (CLT) develops, promotes and supports the use of learning technologies for learning and teaching at SU. We engage in an advisory role with regard to the integration of learning technologies in the curriculum via various modes of provision. This role is underpinned by theoretical perspectives and the scholarship of teaching and learning, and takes place in partnership with
faculties, lecturers and other relevant role players. These modes of provision? include blended learning (BL), hybrid learning (HL), and online learning (OL). In addition to the advisory role provided, several professional learning opportunities,
support and
consultations are also provided by the CLT. Various types of resources are available to assist academic staff in the use of learning technologies in their teaching, learning and assessment practices.??
Academic Development and Professional Learning
Part of our academic development work is positioned within different modes of provision (modalities) at SU. A mode of provision refers to the instruction method used. Emerging learning technologies have presented several other ways in which to teach in higher education, and not just lectures presented to large group of students with some independent study. Irrespective of the mode of provision, the principles and criteria for teaching and learning at SU, as stated in the
Teaching and Learning Policy, apply, together with the principles of the
DeLTA framework.
