The Reproductive Immunology Research Consortium in Africa (RIRCA) emerged in 2021, drawing upon Professor Clive Gray's three decades of dedicated research into HIV immunology. RIRCA is a collaborative assembly of scientists, clinicians, and statisticians all united in their investigation of immunological factors contributing to adverse birth and perinatal outcomes, particularly among infants born to mothers with HIV and other infectious diseases. RIRCA's research is firmly rooted in ongoing dialogues with our communities we deeply appreciate.
Professor Gray's profound expertise in HIV research, coupled with his unwavering commitment to reproductive immunology and infant welfare, has culminated in the inception of RIRCA. It's a response to the pressing need in Africa for innovative solutions that uses immunology research to enhance maternal and child health, offering newborns a brighter and healthier start in life.
