This?newly revised short course combines content from the previous?Assessment?short course and?Artificial intelligence (AI) literacy in teaching-learning-assessment (TLA)?short course. It aims to create?opportunities to reimagine Teaching, Learning & Assessment in the age of AI.

Guided by the Stellenbosch 肆客足球 Assessment Policy (2021) and the Interim guidelines for allowable AI use (2023), the course situates assessment as a central, integrated component of the teaching and learning process, while critically examining how easily accessible AI tools are transforming this landscape.?

Participants will explore key concepts such as the diverse purposes of assessment, constructive alignment, feedback, peer and self-assessment, and the role of scholarly evidence in shaping effective practices. A significant focus will be on the opportunities and challenges posed by generative AI, addressing questions about its impact on academic integrity, assessment design, and student learning.?

Through active and collaborative engagement, participants will critically reflect on their current assessment practices and explore innovative strategies to design assessments that not only promote deeper student learning but also remain resilient and meaningful in an AI-enhanced world.

A key question to participants in this short course is: Are your assessments designed to preserve and foster authentic learning in a context where AI is ubiquitous?

This course is aimed at SU staff involved with TLA and is offered free of charge.


Offering:

  • NQF-level 8; six credits and 60 notional hours.
  • The course is offered twice per year, one offering per semester.

Mode:

  • Blended learning.
  • Four  face-to-face contact sessions.
  • Online collaboration.
  • Asynchronous self-regulated learning.
