Registration process: Questions and Answers


This webpage has been created as a feedback mechanism for registration-related matters. Items will be updated as soon as new information becomes available. Should new issues arise, they will be added and feedback provided. Stellenbosch 肆客足球 is committed to resolve issues as quickly as possible to enable students to register online.

  • ??Admission-related issues may result in the NEXT & SUMBIT buttons not appearing on the SUNStudent platform for some student profiles. Students (excluding the Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences and Stellenbosch Business School) are welcome to visit the computer user area in Room E24 on the first floor in the Neelsie Student Centre until 6 February 2025 (during office hours). Staff involved in assisted registration will guide students through the next steps.

Navigation buttons may be greyed out (be inactive) for the following reasons: ?

  • Some programmes have been configured for registration by the faculty administrators only, and are not available for online self-registration, including the following:
  • Tygerberg PhD
  • Programmes no longer offered/ phased out
  • Stellenbosch Business School programmes
  • Postdoctoral registrations
  • Military Science
  • Specific years of LLB (PG)?
  • Certain Advanced Diplomas in Education
  • SciMathUS
    ?
  • ? Some of the most common reasons for not being able to register online: Prospective students: incomplete admission documents and no admission granted; and returning students: unconfirmed re-admission and outstanding student fees. Please refer to the student services webpage for the applicable contact details for assistance with your specific issue.

  • Students who register for special programmes or as a special student, or whose academic record for 2024 showed a final result other than “pass year” will also not be able to register online. Contact your faculty administrator. ?

  • Pre-requisites and co-requisites

    Students may receive error messages where the system configuration of the pre-requisites and co-requisites for an academic programme is incorrect. Where possible, the pre-requisite-related setups are being updated, and once corrected, students should be able to register if pre-requisite criteria are met. The SUNStudent Support Team investigated instances where specific class groups were affected. Issues for students registering for BCom (International Business) or BAccLLB have been resolved?

If the Registration acceptance pop-up message does not display, it may be due to your personal browser settings. Check whether you have blocked pop-up messages in your browser settings or network firewall and allow Stellenbosch 肆客足球 pop-ups to display.

  • Students are experiencing course selection issues, especially in the Faculty of Science and Faculty of Engineering. Modules cannot be selected from more than one module group. It is related to settings for minimum | maximum modules per programme. The SUNStudent support team is collaborating with faculty administrators to resolve the issues. It is recommended that students who encounter this issue should try to e-register again in a day or two.

  • ? Some students experienced issues where they were unable to complete their module registration on the online platform, as they could not select modules; or modules that they have passed reflect as repeat modules. Passed modules reflecting as repeat modules should be resolved now as all marks have been uploaded. Students who still encounter this issue, should check the system again the next day. If the issue persists, please report it to info@sun.ac.za
