Ensure that you have secured accommodation before registration
Important notification: Accommodation is not included in your academic offer. You are responsible to secure your own accommodation, at your own cost, before you arrive on campus and register. Visit www.maties.com for more information on residence and private accredited accommodation.
Residences will open according to the schedule outlined below for different student categories
Newcomer first-year students
- Faculty of Law, newcomer first-year students: Monday, 27 January 2025
- All newcomer first years who were allocated place in a university residence must report at their residences in accordance with the dates and times communicated by individual residences. (from 29 January 2025)
Please note:?If first-year students fail to arrive at the residence by the move-in dates without prior arrangement, their residence placement will be cancelled and allocated to students on the residence waiting list.
Senior and returning students
- Undergraduate residences on the Stellenbosch Campus
- House Committee (HC) Members: Friday, 17 January 2025?
- Senior students: Wednesday, 5 February 2025 - Senior residences (Huis Mac Donald/Concordia/Lobelia/Huis de Villiers/The Village, and Huis Russel Botman and Walter Parry House), LLL Houses and SU houses on the Stellenbosch Campus: Friday, 10 January 2025?
If you are not taking up your residence offer, please inform us to avoid charges
All students (newcomer first years and seniors) need to inform the Student Accommodation Office at?rescancellations info@sun.ac.za?if you will not be taking up your place in residence to ensure that no accommodation fees are charged to your student account.
Secure private accommodation in time
If you have not secured accommodation in residence, please secure private accommodation. Visit our website for private accommodation here. You are also welcome to visit the Private Accommodation Office in Administration A. It remains your responsibility to secure accommodation at you own cost before you arrive on campus.
Also keep in mind that, if you are a bursary holder, to secure proof of funding. If you do not have proof of funding, we will not be able to assist you to secure private accredited accommodation.
Register on the waiting lists if you are eligible for residence placement
The residence waiting lists for all registered students will open on 10 January 2025 on your student account. Please keep in mind that space is limited, and that the placement criteria will still be applicable.
- Preference will be given to NSFAS first years in accordance with the Residence Placement Policy.
- Returning students who are not eligible will not be considered. Please refer to private accommodation.
