We are thrilled to share that the ICMG24 Conference, held from June 9 to June 14, 2024, was a remarkable event. This hybrid conference successfully brought together military geoscientists from around the world, both in-person and virtually, creating a dynamic platform for knowledge exchange and collaboration.

Conference Overview

Organised by the ICMG 2024 Organising Committee, this event marked a significant milestone as the first international military geosciences hybrid conference. Our diverse audience included geoscience practitioners, students, and representatives from national and international higher institutions, military organizations, and academies.

Key Features of ICMG24

• Keynote Presentations:
• Francis A. Galgano - Associate Professor of Geography, Director of Sustainability Studies, and Executive Director of the Pennsylvania Geographical Society.
• Hennie A.P. Smit - Professor in Geography, UNISA.
• Enriching Presentations: Delivered by distinguished international and South African scholars and researchers.
• Field Trips: Included visits to the Naval Base in Simon's Town and a half-day excursion to Robben Island, a place of historical significance where Nelson Mandela was imprisoned for 18 years.
• Conference Seminar: "Russia in Africa - Anti or Neocolonial Power?" hosted by The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Czech Republic and Charles 肆客足球 (Faculty of Social Sciences, Geopolitical Studies).
• Social Events: Welcoming Function on Sunday evening and Conference Dinner on Thursday evening.
• Amenities: All lunches and coffee breaks were included.
• Post-Conference Field Tour: A captivating five-day tour exploring the greater Cape Town Metropolitan area, Franschhoek, the Cederberg region, Saldanha Bay, and Buffelsfontein Game and Nature Reserve.
