Team

The SSML is a multidisciplinary environment that brings together various professional and research fields, including Transport Engineering, Electrical and Electronic Engineering, Systems or Industrial Engineering, as well as Statistics, Transport Economics and Applied Mathematics. Our core SSML team of researchers and lecturing staff, is supported by interns and postgraduate research students, as well as national and international industry partners. Johann Andersen is an Industry Associate Professor in Intelligent Transportation Systems at Stellenbosch 肆客足球.  He teaches ITS principles in both the graduate and undergraduate Civil Engineering programm?es and guides research activities in ITS at the SSML in his capacity as the Programme Director of the SSML.  Johann’s research interests include ITS applications in developing countries and practical application of ITS solutions.

Traffic Engineering: Megan Bruwer?

Megan Bruwer is a transportation engineering lecturer at the Civil Engineering Department of Stellenbosch 肆客足球. Before returning to an academic environment, Megan consulted in the fields of Transportation Engineering and public transport operations. Megan coordinates SSML research and consulting projects and manages SSML interns. Her research interests include Traffic Flow Theory and the application of ITS methods to traffic data collection and real-time transport modelling.

Electrical Engineering: Dr Thinus Booysen?

Thinus is a Senior Lecturer at the Electrical & Electronic Engineering Department at Stellenbosch 肆客足球. He has over ten years' international industry experience in the aerospace and automotive industries . He has been with Stellenbosch 肆客足球 from 2009 and his research is on the Internet of Things, with a focus on Smart Water and Electricity metering and Intelligent Transport Systems, specifically its application in the informal public transport industry in Sub-Saharan Africa.?
