Bursaries
A copy of written proof of a bursary awarded, indicating the amount, has to be sent via email to jbs@sun.ac.za before registration. Allow 3 – 5 days processing time to be able to activate the student card after registration for the academic year.
Compulsory first instalment
The compulsory first instalment on study fees is payable in full by all students before the date of registration. Allow 3 – 5 days processing time in order to activate the student card for the specific academic year.
Payment arrangement application forms for the compulsory first instalment can be obtained from the Student Fees Section in January of the academic year provided any outstanding amount from the previous year of study has been settled in full.
Bursary holders who did submit written proof of the bursary granted via email to jbs@sun.ac.za might be exempted from the compulsory first instalment if the amount of the bursary is sufficient to cover the compulsory first instalment. If the amount is less, the student is responsible for paying the difference at the date of registration.
Students who only register for a few modules and the total study fees are less than the compulsory first instalment, have to pay the full amount of the study fees before registration.

- Full study fees for any first-semester registered modules
- Half of the study fees for any registered year modules
- Half of the additional study-related expenditures, namely program and module costs, that the student fees account for the year comes to.
A student who discontinues his studies after 31 July of the same academic year, for which he is registered, shall be liable for the total amount that his student fees account for the year comes to.
Overdue student fees accounts
