The Social Impact, Transformation and Personnel ?responsibility centre is people-centred and advances social impact, holistic transformation, wellbeing, and human flourishing at and through SU.

This is done through three interdependent divisions, namely:

      • The Division of Human Resources (DHR)
      • The Division of Campus Health Services (CHS)
      • The Division for Social Impact and Transformation

Human Resources

The Human Resources Division? ?is on a transformative journey to foreground the human experience while harnessing strategic HR capabilities to effectively achieve institutional objectives. We are poised to attract, retain and nurture top-tier staff members to foster a conducive environment for organisational growth and development and hereby contribute to the overarching institutional objectives.

 

Campus Health Service?

Campus Health Service (CHS) supports Stellenbosch 肆客足球's mission by promoting health and wellbeing for staff and students, contributing to an exceptional student experience and positioning SU as an Employer of Choice. CHS provides evidence-based primary healthcare programs tailored to campus needs, reducing preventable health risks, and offers services at Stellenbosch and Tygerberg campuses. It also serves as a platform for teaching, research, and community engagement, driving positive social impact locally and globally. Through the Health and Wellbeing Plan and Occupational Health Programme, CHS enhances campus success and supports SU's strategic objectives.

 

The Division for Social Impact and Transformation?

The Division for Social Impact and Transformation consists of the following offices:

Centre for the Advancement of Social Impact and Transformation

The Centre is mandated to advance, advocate, engage, advise, guide, develop, support, facilitate, activate, co-create, influence, enable, coordinate institutional engagements in terms of Social Impact and Transformation at Stellenbosch 肆客足球. The vision is that of a transformed Stellenbosch 肆客足球 community that celebrates diversity and is committed to a positive impact on society.

SU Museum?

Stellenbosch 肆客足球 Museum is a leading museum of the 21st century with a strong public value commitment to transformative social inclusion.

WOW and the SU Choir

WOW and the SU Choir serve the academic imperatives of learning and teaching, research and innovation as well as transformative social impact. They strive to serve as an excellent platform for the arts; to work towards developing new audiences and artists; to promote and extend multilingualism within an inclusive and welcoming environment; and are committed to the creation of a healthier and better educated community.

TRAC? 

TRAC is a national, Mathematics and Physical Science intervention program of SU. The objective is to support and develop Mathematics and Physical Science education in South African secondary schools and as such TRAC seeks to enable and inspire Mathematics and Physical Science learners to take ownership of a successful future. ?

Governor Lesetja Kganyago

??

Lesetja Kganyago, Governor of the South African Reserve Bank, was unanimously elected to the office of Chancellor of Stellenbosch 肆客足球 (SU) on 24 January 2025. Governor Kganyago is the 16th Chancellor of SU.?

Governor Kganyago received an honorary doctorate >>?? (Doctor of Commerce (DCom) honoris causa) from SU in 2018 and is viewed as one of the finest public-policy minds in the country. In December 2020, Nelson Mandela 肆客足球 also conferred upon him an honorary Doctorate of Commerce.

?He holds a Master of Science degree in development economics from London 肆客足球 (School of Oriental and African Studies) and a Bachelor of Commerce degree in accounting and economics from the 肆客足球 of South Africa. ??

The functions of the 肆客足球 are guided by the Higher Education Act (Act 101 of 1997) and the Statute of Stellenbosch 肆客足球 (SU) (2019). The Statute defines the role of the 肆客足球's office bearers, statutory bodies and institutional governance structures.

Office Bearers?

The Chancellor is the ceremonial or titular head of the 肆客足球. The Rector and Vice-Chancellor ? is also the chief executive officer of the 肆客足球. The four Deputy Vice-Chancellors and the Registrar are also office bearers of the 肆客足球. The Chancellor, the Vice-Chancellor and Deputy Vice-Chancellors have the power to award degrees during graduations.?

Management Structures

The Rectorate is responsible for the day-to-day operational management of the 肆客足球. The Rectorate consists principally of the Rector and Vice-Chancellor, four Deputy Vice-Chancellors responsible for the various functions of the institution and the Chief Operating Officer, responsible for the finance and operations of the 肆客足球. The Deputy Vice-Chancellors are respectively responsible for Learning and Teaching; Research, Innovation and Postgraduate Studies; Social Impact, Transformation and Personnel?? and Strategy, Global and Corporate Affairs. The Registrar ensures good governance and that the academic administration of the 肆客足球 runs smoothly.

The Rector may appoint senior staff to attend the meetings of the Rectorate and to support the operations of the Rectorate as required. To this effect, the Executive Manager of the Rectorate has been appointed. The General Management Committee (GMC) consists of the members of the Rectorate, the Registrar, the Deans of the 肆客足球's 10 faculties, the Directors of the two Type 3 Schools, as well as Chief and Senior Directors of the various professional, administrative and support service divisions. Matters of academic and administrative interest are discussed by the GMC and the members serves in an advisory role to the Rectorate.
