SOCIETAL IMPACT???? T?ASK TEAM
The Societal Impact Task (SITT) leads the science engagement activities of the Divisions of Molecular Biology and Human Genetics, and Immunology at Stellenbosch 肆客足球 as well as the South African Medical Research Council Centre for Tuberculosis Research. The purpose of the SITT and its subcommittees, namely the Social Media Working group (SciComm), is to provide direction to effect the implementation of science engagement projects. The SITT sets out to achieve workable solutions to integrating the institutional vision for effecting sustained social change in the strategic areas as outlined in the UN Sustainable Development Goals into its standard research and training practices.
Societal impact is central to Stellenbosch 肆客足球’s strategic positioning for the 21st century in “creating and sustaining an environment of inclusivity, transformation, innovation, diversity, and maintaining excellence with a focus on the future”. As one of the three strategic priorities of the Stellenbosch 肆客足球, societal impact efforts aim to (a) broaden access, (b) to sustain momentum on excellence and (c) to make impact on local and global societies.
The Societal Impact Task Team is committed to facilitating the translation of our research findings both to the communities we serve in the form of science engagement and to policymakers through feedback sessions; thereby, contributing to building a public and policymaker understanding of health, drivers of ill-health, and practice, interventions and technologies that can prevent ill-health and strengthen health services. We commit to achieving this goal through innovative, inclusive, sustainable, and transformative engagement with individuals, social groups, organizations, and institutions.
By prioritizing collaboration and community-driven solutions, we aim to create a lasting impact that empowers individuals and strengthens the fabric of our society. Together, we aspire to contribute to a more informed, resilient, and interconnected community where opportunities for growth and success are accessible to all.
